Positions come from NASA JPL's DE440 planetary ephemeris, not from a shortcut formula. A shortcut can put Saturn a fifth of a degree out, and at Saturn's pace that moves a date by days.

Accurate positions make the dates exactly what the method says. They don't make the method predictive: that is a separate question.
